Sonakshi graduated in fashion designing from SNDT College and had chosen fashion as a serious career option. But after she lost a staggering 30 kilos in the past year, she decided to try her hand at modeling, and even walked the ramp for noted fashion designers at the Lakme Fashion Week 2009.  “Everything just happened, and I pretty much went with the flow. Films happened to be an eventuality. After I lost all the weight, I began to model, and that’s when I decided that the next step for me would be acting,” she explains.

She made big news when she turned down Salman Khan as her co-star for her debut film. The news was such that Khan had expressed his desire to work with Sinha, but she turned him down, stating that newcomers who work with Salman are always overshadowed and sidelined. To this, she says, “It was just blown out of proportion. I still am in talks with him, and nothing has been decided yet.”
