A local court on Tuesday asked the police to register an FIR against six persons including item girl Rakhi Sawant, actor Ravi Kishan and a top official of a leading channel for allegedly stealing the concept of a marriage-based TV reality show from a private portal.

Judicial Magistrate No 27 Shilpa Sameer directed the Karni Nagar police station in the city to register an FIR against the six including Sawant for alleged breach of copyright by lifting the concept of Swayamvar from the portal of a Pink City-based ’struggling’ writer Gaurav Tiwari.

Besides Sawant and Kishan the FIR is to be lodged against Manging Director of NDTV Imagine Gaurav Gandhi, the Executive Director of the show ‘Rakhee Ka Swayamvar’ and two others for their participation in the programme.

In his complaint filed under section 156 (3), Tiwari alleged that his concept of marriages through swayamvar was his intellectual property and copyrighted in the year 2008 itself but the TV channel had stolen the idea and concept from his portal Swayamvar.Com and started the show.

The court directed the police to register an FIR in connection with the complaint and investigate it.

And even as she flashes those pearly whites, the sultry afternoon weather doesn’t seem so sapping any more. Professional to the core, she opts for the photocall even as the make-up is still fresh on her face before settling down for a tête-à-tête in the cool confines of the restaurant.

That for you ladies and gentlemen is Dia Mirza, who touched down in the city to scorch the ramp as showstopper for a fashion event.
Even as she sips her tea, Dia, rattles off saying that she has been to the city so many times that she has lost count. Proud of her Bengali connect through her mom and mamima, the actor says, “Whenever my mom and I want to have a secret conversation, we do so in Bengali only to find out each time that there is a Bengali present near us.”

Keen to put her Bengali connect to good use, Dia speaks out, “I’ve always very candidly confessed that I’d love to do an aesthetic Bengali venture. However, the closest, I’ve come to working with directors from Bengal are Pradeep Sarkar and Shoojit Sircar.” Are directors listening?

But Dia listens intently before answering what it is like to sashay down the ramp. “When the spotlight is on you, you feel special.” With the fashion weeks nearing, one wonders if she will be the showstopper for any designer. “It depends on the kind of association you share with the designer. If I’m free, I’ll do it. But being a showstopper isn’t as important as the movie Fashion made it out to be,” Dia jokes tongue firmly in cheek.

Talking of movies, it’s been sometime since this beautiful belle sizzled onscreen. “Well, that’s because all this time, I was working on six films and travelling all over,” she reasons. With a full kitty, the audience can hope to catch Dia in various avatars apart from her sweet, girl-next-door kind of roles so far.

“Most people cast keeping the actor’s persona in mind. But as an actor, it is essential to transform into any person onscreen. And the characters that I’ve essayed so far are of intelligent women,” Dia points out.

But hasn’t she ever been offered a character with dark shades to it? Dia answers in the affirmative clarifying that there dwells a dark side in all of us. “I’ve had such offers but the project didn’t excite me much,” says Dia continuing that she doesn’t have dark shades in real life though she can be assertive. “I’m largely a nice person. People sometimes do try to take advantage of my nice disposition. But that’s when the assertion comes in. And sometimes, I let people get away without having them realise that I’m already aware of their intentions. I don’t believe in confrontations with those who don’t matter to me. I’d rather reserve them for people I love and trust,” her petite exterior belies her headstrong interior.

Perhaps, it is this self- confidence that leads her to admit that insecurity is largely prevalent in the industry. But she is “NOT insecure”. Dia believes in competing with herself. At a time when the industry is flooded with fresh faces, Dia confesses, “There has to be something special that has made me last here. Experience is my strongest arsenal.”

Happy with the way her career is shaping up, one wonders when the actor plans to take the marriage vows. “I am very settled,” Dia signs off before she shoots off to take centrestage at the press conference.

“My friend (Amar Singh) repairs well and repairs well enough to be discharged from hospital to his home. Home not in India, but in Singapore,” Amitabh posted Saturday on his blog.

“There he shall remain for observation and tests and acute monitoring. He shall be observed with care and diligence for such surgeries need careful after looking after’,” he added.

According to Amitabh, it is the recovery period after a surgery which is the real test of a patient.

“Many believe that the job done by surgeon and hospital is final, but it is not so. What is most important is how you will deal with your system now with the handicaps of repair. The strength and will required for this journey is much much greater than the will required to submit yourself to surgeons,” he posted.

Singh was admitted to the hospital earlier this month. Amitabh’s family — wife Jaya, son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya — had been by Singh’s side in Singapore for many days. Now, Aishwarya and Abhishek are back in India to shoot for Mani Ratnam’s “Ravana”.

PARIS – Alberto Contador won the Tour de France for a second time Wednesday, and Lance Armstrong capped his return to the race with an impressive third-place finish.

Mark Cavendish of Britain collected his sixth stage win of this year’s Tour in a sprint after the 101.9-mile course ride from Montereau-Fault-Yonne to the Champs-Elysees.

Over nearly 3,500 kilometers and 21 stages of races over three weeks, Contador repelled many challenges in the mountains, excelled in the two time-trials — winning a pivotal race against the clock in the 18th stage — and won the first Alpine stage.

Contador, the 2007 champion, also had to battle a rearguard action within his Astana team, where the comeback of Armstrong to the Tour after 3½ years of retirement raised questions about who would be the team leader.

Contador began the Tour on July 4 as the pre-race favorite. At only 26 years old, the Spaniard is already one of cycling’s greats, having won all three Grand Tours of France, Italy and Spain.

He had to sit out last year because of a doping scandal at Astana that erupted before he joined.

Armstrong, the 37-year-old seven-time Tour champion, is the second-oldest rider to reach the Tour podium. Raymond Poulidor of France was 40 when he placed third in 1976.

Cavendish set his own record by becoming the first rider to win six Tour stages in a sprint. But Thor Hushovd of Norway beat the 24-year-old Briton for the green jersey given to the Tour’s best Tour sprinter.

“It’s amazing. I’m so happy to be here,” Cavendish said. “Six stage victories on the Tour — all my dreams have come true.”

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly bought a 20 million pounds apartment in a posh area of London.
The actor, who was recently awarded a doctorate by the University of Bedfordshire for his contribution to Indian cinema, is a regular visitor to the city and spends a good amount of time there with his family.

He had been hunting for a house for a long time and has finally zeroed in on an apartment in the Park Lane area of central London, reports theasiannews.co.uk.

Shah Rukh, who is right now busy with the shooting of “My Name Is Khan”, sealed the deal on his recent trip, said reports.

He also owns properties in the UAE.

On Tuesday, she visited a nearby hospital to get her medical reports and she was diagnosed with malaria.Yesterday, she was feeling so weak that she did not shoot for the film at all. She’s making it a point to get adequate rest because she has a long shoot schedule ahead and she also has to be in Mumbai for a couple of days to promote Love Aaj Kal.”

“Deepika was upset that the shoot was called off because of her but Sajid and the rest of the crew insisted that she take rest. Earlier too she had shot for Om Shanti Om when she was seriously ill and she did the same this time. But yesterday, she was so unwell that she couldn’t manage to get out of bed,” added the source.
